OEC Action Fund Launches $350K Ad Campaign Informing Ohioans on Senator Husted’s Disastrous GOP Budget Vote
Columbus, OH — Today, the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund announced a $350,000 digital and TV ad campaign holding U.S. Senator Jon Husted accountable for his vote in favor of the GOP Budget Bill. This sweeping budget measure slashes clean energy investments and will raise energy costs for Ohio families and businesses.

The GOP Budget Bill will:
- Increase annual energy bills for Ohio households by over $910 million by 2030, rising to $2.1 billion by 2035
- Jeopardize more than $21 billion in clean energy investments across 154 Ohio facilities
- Eliminate tax credits that made solar panels, energy-efficient appliances, and home upgrades more affordable
These ads are part of the OEC Action Fund’s larger GOP budget bill accountability campaign announced last month. The campaign will continue to call attention to Congressman Mike Carey (OH-15) and Senator Jon Husted’s votes in favor of the GOP Budget Bill.
“Senator Jon Husted promised to cut costs for Ohioans,” said Spencer Dirrig, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund. “Instead, he went to Washington and voted to skyrocket our energy bills while slashing jobs and funding for energy creation right here in Ohio. Husted put the interests of polluting corporations and billionaires over Ohio families. Ohioans deserve to know how Husted’s vote will impact them.”
“Senator Husted broke his promise to Ohioans to lower costs with his vote,” said Sara Schreiber, Senior Vice President of Campaigns for the League of Conservation Voters. “Senator Husted should be focused on bringing down Ohioans’ utility bills and creating good paying jobs by investing in affordable energy solutions instead of siding with special interests and cutting taxes for the ultra wealthy.”

The OEC Action Fund seeks to protect the environment and health of all Ohio communities by electing climate champions, holding public officials accountable, and advancing environmental justice policies.

They promised to bring down prices
But instead Senator Jon Husted voted to make our monthly bills go up
Husted’s plan takes Medicaid away from millions of Americans
Which means they’ll plan thousands out of pocket for care
And it removes clean energy from the electric grid
Creating a massive rate hike on electricity
And it’s all just to cut taxes yet again for the super rich
Everything costs too much already
And Senator Husted voted to make it even worse
