OEC Action Fund Celebrates Massive Victories for Endorsed Environmental Champions Across the State
Columbus, Ohio — Today, the OEC Action Fund congratulates Governor-Elect Dr. Amy Acton and Lt. Governor-Elect David Pepper and celebrates the victories of endorsed environmental candidates across the state. 94% of OEC Action Fund-endorsed candidates won their races, including victories that flipped eight key seats in the Ohio House and Senate, breaking the Ohio House GOP supermajority and giving Governor-Elect Acton a true veto. This means Ohio will have a divided government for the next four years, and we look forward to working across party lines to deliver lower costs, clean water, and data center regulations.
Protecting Ohio’s environment requires strong leadership and accountable government. That is why we were proud to support leaders committed to fair elections, transparency, and holding powerful interests accountable. We look forward to working with Secretary of State-Elect Russo and Attorney General-Elect Kulewicz to help ensure Ohio’s democracy and public institutions serve the people of Ohio.
Ohioans made it clear all year: we need leaders who will address the issues affecting their daily lives. This includes skyrocketing energy costs, public health, and environmental protections. We look forward to working with Governor-elect Acton and the 137th General Assembly to foster practical solutions that will make life more affordable, sustainable, and healthy for all Ohioans.
The following quote can be attributed, in whole or in part, to Carol Kauffman, Chief Executive Officer for the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund:
“Ohioans voted for change on Tuesday night. Governor-Elect Dr. Amy Acton ran on a platform of lowering energy costs, holding data centers accountable, and building healthy communities. The OEC Action Fund and our members worked hard to elect Dr. Acton, and we are thrilled that our next Governor is a leader who will work to improve the quality of life for every Ohioan. We congratulate Dr. Acton on her victory and urge the Ohio legislature to listen to the voters by working with the Governor-Elect to find common ground. Ohioans demand results, not partisan political games. Let’s get to work.”
“The OEC Action Fund knows that a healthy environment requires fairness under the law and a democracy that represents its people faithfully. That’s why we were proud to endorse and support Attorney General-Elect John Kulewicz and Secretary of State-Elect Allison Russo. These new statewide officeholders have pledged to ensure that our elections are fair, and polluters are held accountable.”
