OEC Action Fund Applauds Endorsed Candidate Wins Across the State

Columbus, OH — The Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund congratulates its endorsed candidates on their victories in Tuesday’s Primary Election, including:

  • Governor: Nan Whaley

  • Lieutenant Governor: Cheryl Stephens

  • Attorney General: Jeff Crossman

  • Auditor of State: Taylor Sappington

  • Secretary of State: Chelsea Clark

“From the corruption surrounding the House Bill 6 scandal to the repeated attempts to cheat Ohio voters from a fair redistricting process, it is clear we need new state leadership,” said Trish Demeter, Interim President of the OEC Action Fund. “Ohioans deserve strong leaders who will stand up to the corruption plaguing our state. We deserve leaders who will prioritize bold climate action and clean energy job growth. We deserve leaders who will fight for the health of our environment and our communities.”

“Nan Whaley and Cheryl Stephens are those leaders and have a bold vision for pursuing climate action and natural resource protection. We applaud their decisive primary victory and look forward to supporting Nan Whaley and Cheryl Stephens in their race to become Ohio’s next Governor and Lieutenant Governor,” said Demeter.

Additionally, all three of OEC Action Fund’s endorsed candidates for statewide office—including Representative Jeff Crossman for Attorney General, Councilmember Chelsea Clark for Secretary of State, and Auditor Taylor Sappington for Auditor of State—will move forward to the General Election.

“This slate of environmental and democracy champions will lead our state into the future by targeting corruption, protecting the right to vote, and promoting a clean energy future for Ohio,” said Demeter.

All of OEC Action Fund’s endorsed candidates running for Ohio Courts of Appeals were elected by constituents in their respective districts across the state, including:

  • Ohio Court of Appeals District 1: Jennifer Kinsley

  • Ohio Court of Appeals District 6: Christine Mayle

  • Ohio Court of Appeals District 7: Gene Donofrio

  • Ohio Court of Appeals District 8: Lisa Forbes, Michael John Ryan

  • Ohio Court of Appeals District 9: Thomas A. Teodosio, Erica Voorhees, Amber Crowe

  • Ohio Court of Appeals District 10: Carly Edelstein, Kristin Boggs, David Leland

“We congratulate our endorsed Courts of Appeals candidates on their election victories,” said Demeter. “In Ohio and across the nation, it has become increasingly clear that the judicial branch is critical to our ability to take action on climate change and ensure the health of our democracy. These candidates will protect and defend our democracy and uphold the laws of the State of Ohio in a fair and honest manner.”
