Columbus, OH — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 61 (SB 61) into law today. The bipartisan legislation, sponsored by Senators Louis Blessing (R-Cincinnati) and Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood), eliminates market barriers for solar development by preventing homeowner associations (HOAs) from imposing unfair restrictions on homeowners that want to go solar.
In response, the following quote can be attributed in full or part to Nolan Rutschilling, Managing Director of Energy Policy for the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund:
“Senate Bill 61 demonstrates common sense policy designed to remove market barriers for clean energy development. By allowing Ohioans who belong to homeowner associations to make their own clean energy decisions, this legislation will create jobs, improve public health, and fight climate change. The OEC Action Fund applauds the bipartisan efforts to make SB 61 law and we thank sponsors Senators Louis Blessing (R-Cincinnati) and Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood) for their leadership.”
