Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund Congratulates Speaker Jason Stephens and Minority Leader Allison Russo
Columbus, OH — The Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund congratulates the new leadership of the Ohio House of Representatives, who will oversee the 135th General Assembly. Leadership has an opportunity for constructive bipartisan action to improve Ohio’s environment and economy during this session.
Representative Jason Stephens (HD93 - R) was elected House Speaker on January 3rd with the support of 22 Republicans and all 32 Democrats in the chamber.
“We congratulate the new Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, Jason Stephens, on his election. Speaker Stephens understands the importance of growing Ohio’s economy, and we look forward to working with the Speaker to ensure that our environment is protected for generations to come,” Pete Bucher, Interim President of the OEC Action Fund, said. “The bipartisan nature of Speaker Stephens’ election is an exciting development, and we look forward to working with members on both sides of the aisle who are ready to secure clean air and water for all Ohioans.”
Representative Allison Russo (HD7 - D) was formally elected to serve as House Minority Leader for the 135th General Assembly.
“Leader Russo has been a steadfast champion for Ohio’s environment and our democracy. As a cosponsor of various pieces of clean water legislation and a strong advocate for fair district maps, Leader Russo is a proven fighter for Ohio families. We are thrilled to continue working with her,” Spencer Dirrig, Director of the OEC Action Fund, said.
