COLUMBUS, OH— The Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund today announced its endorsements for three local ballot issues and an additional mayoral candidate in Central Ohio ahead of the November 7th general election.
“We are excited to endorse these ballot initiatives alongside all of our climate candidates in the upcoming election,” Spencer Dirrig, director of the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund, said. “These initiatives and candidates will help protect our environment, economic viability and health of local communities while building a more sustainable future for Ohio.”
Ballot Initiative Endorsements
Grandview for Clean Energy, Yes on Issue 23 | Grandview Heights
This ballot measure would establish a community choice aggregation program in Grandview Heights, allowing residents to choose their electricity provider and switch to 100% renewable energy.
Citizens for Darke County Parks, Yes on Issue 9 | Darke County
This ballot measure would renew a $500,000 park levy, funding the maintenance and upkeep of 15 parks throughout the county.
Building Cincinnati’s Future, Yes on Issue 22 | Cincinnati, Ohio
This ballot measure would authorize the sale of the Cincinnati Southern Railway to Norfolk Southern, generating $1.6 billion for Cincinnati that would be placed in a trust to fund sustainability programs, including water infrastructure improvements and landslide prevention.
Candidate Endorsement
Ben Kessler for Mayor of Bexley:
Incumbent Mayor Ben Kessler is a climate champion for Bexley, having implemented a Bike Friendly Bexley Plan and a compost program for the city alongside improvements to sewer infrastructure.
