The Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund today announced its endorsement of the Ashland County Park District levy campaign.
“We applaud Ashland County Park District’s efforts to increase public access and acreage of quality natural space in Ohio to date,” said Max Schaefer, Northeast Regional Director for the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund. “We urge all Ashland County Residents to vote in favor of the park levy to provide access to Ohio’s vibrant natural landscapes and essential programming for the community.”
Ashland County Park District is currently made up of 18 unique and exciting parks. Each park has its own natural features that make it distinct among Ashland County including an old-growth forest, a native grassland, restored wetlands, and spring-fed ponds. There are also miles of hiking trails, playgrounds, fishing ponds, bird-observation decks, and river access for canoeing.
“Whether you’re an avid bird watcher looking through the towering walnut and oak trees, or a beginner kayaker trying to get your feet wet, the Ashland County Park District is the place to go,” Schaefer said.
