“The OEC Action Fund is thrilled to be endorsing a diverse slate of climate champions for countywide leadership,” said Trish Demeter, Interim President of the OEC Action Fund. “These candidates are running to ensure every community has access to clean water, clean air, and vibrant parks and public lands for generations to come.”
With the passage of Senate Bill 52, county commissioners now have the authority to restrict wind and solar developments, however OEC Action Fund endorsed candidates have pledged to promote renewable energy development in their respective counties. “These local leaders are truly the key to a cleaner Ohio powered by renewable energy. We look forward to supporting these endorsed climate champions in their campaigns and in office,” said Demeter.
Ohio is divided up into 88 counties, with counties governed by either a board of 3 county commissioners or a county council. More information can be found on the Ohio Secretary of State’s website.
