Columbus, OH —Ohio voters elected 29 Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund-endorsed climate champions and approved two important OEC Action Fund-endorsed ballot initiatives in the November 2024 General Election.
“Despite difficult political headwinds, we are excited to congratulate our endorsed climate candidates across Ohio on their victories,” said Spencer Dirrig, OEC Action Fund Director. “We’re proud to support these climate champions in elected office. And we are determined to keep working with leaders at all levels of government to protect the environment and health of all Ohio communities.”
Funding for public transit, climate infrastructure, and clean renewable energy were on the ballot for voters in Central Ohio. Columbus voters overwhelmingly passed Issue 47, the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) Levy. Blendon Township voters passed Issue 23, establishing a clean energy aggregation program.
The OEC Action Fund supported endorsed candidates and issues through membership engagement, direct mail, digital ads, and radio spots.
