Columbus, OH — As part of a plea agreement, Generation Now admitted its involvement in the $61M federal racketeering case related to the passage of House Bill 6 in 2019.
In response, the following statement can be attributed in full or part to Heather Taylor-Miesle, Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund President:
“Generation Now’s guilty plea sheds additional light on the unconscionable racketeering scheme to pass House Bill 6. The Ohio General Assembly, however, has failed to repeal the legislation and has yet to expel Rep. Householder whose actions are at the heart of the corruption case.
“The General Assembly’s inaction since the scandal broke is nothing less than embarrassing and dangerous for Ohio’s future. Ohioans deserve better. No more excuses.
“The OEC Action Fund, once again, calls on the Ohio General Assembly to immediately repeal HB 6 and dedicate themselves to passing energy policy that is truly good for our people, their pocketbooks and the environment. We call on those who were a part of the corrupt dealings to resign now or be expelled by the legislature. And we call on all Ohio lawmakers to double down on their commitments to strengthen anti-corruption legislation.”
