The Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund (OEC Action Fund), announced today its endorsement of Senator Randy Gardner for the Ohio Senate. Gardner is a courageous champion for Ohio’s clean energy economy who has worked tirelessly to put forward innovative solutions to address the algal blooms that plague Lake Erie.
“Senator Gardner has been a voice of reason and a committed champion for protecting our natural resources in the Ohio Senate,” said OEC Action Fund President Heather Taylor-Miesle. “He’s been an independent voice on clean energy and he’s introduced forward thinking policies to protect Lake Erie, and our drinking water, from toxic algae. The Senate, and our environment, need more leaders like Randy Gardner.”
The endorsement marks the OEC Action Fund’s first endorsement in a state Senate race in Ohio this year. In addition to this endorsement, the OEC Action fund has endorsed Denise Driehaus for Hamilton County Commissioner and Dan Ramos in the 56th Ohio House race. These initial endorsements mark the arrival of the OEC Action Fund in the electoral process and show that the organization will be working across the state to elect environmental champions, regardless of party affiliation.
“I believe my constituents expect legislators to find common ground on big issues,” Gardner said. “That’s what I’ve tried to do on energy issues and in the fight for a healthy Lake Erie. As the sponsor of the Clean Lake Erie Act, I know this must continue to be a top priority for Ohio.”
